Bluegrass is taking over Newport all weekend long! This Friday July 30th through Sunday August 1st, The Newport Folk Festival will celebrate folk music for this New England Sea-faring town.
Friday nights events will feature an inaugural performance by Steve Martin and The Steep Canyon Rangers. Show time is 8pm at The International Tennis Hall of Fame at the Newport Casino. It features an open air stadium with both covered and non covered seating. ( Read More…)

Andrew Bird is earning extra touring credit by making several festival appearances this 2009 summer season.
He’ll start things off at Bonnaroo in June, swing by the All Points West Music & Arts Festival at the end of July, cruise up to Lollapalooza in August, and finish off the summer down south at the Austin City Limits Music Festival. There are plenty of events in between, so check back for updates.

Andrew Bird, an artist proficient in whistling, violin, guitar, mandolin and glockenspiel (?!), released his fifth solo album, Noble Beast, on January 20.
Noble Beast was released with a trio of bonus tracks and even came as a deluxe version chock full of instrumental-only songs.
You can catch Andrew on the road this summer supporting fellow emo-esque rockers The Decemberists and Death Cab for Cutie, and making an appearance at the 2009 Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester, Tennessee, in June.
